New Toolkit for Implementing CHIPS & Science Act Investments Launches on Tuesday, June 20 from Child Care for Every Family Network

The Child Care for Every Family Network will be hosting a webinar on Tuesday, June 20 from 12:00-1:30PM (PST) / 3:00-4:30PM (EST) to introduce Effective and Inclusive Child Care Solutions: A Toolkit for Implementing CHIPS & Science Act Investments. 

The aim of this toolkit is to help CHIPS program applicants effectively deliver on their commitments to diversify their workforce and provide child care support for construction and facilities workers on their projects. We believe that these investments in workforce and child care can be impactful for semiconductor businesses who need to recruit over 190,000 new workers to build and staff these new facilities.  Recruiting women  workers into these industries will be critical to addressing these shortages.      

The Child Care for Every Family Network and Estolano Advisors worked with child care advocates, women in trades organizations, labor unions, parents and providers impacted by America’s child care crisis to develop a toolkit with practical approaches to deliver on workforce and child care goals tied to commitments for federal investments.

This toolkit includes five north stars to effectively guide planning efforts, tips to meaningfully partner with child care and labor advocates close to the ground, a clear mapping of the child care sector with mechanisms and options for employers to utilize, and best strategies to co-design and deliver inclusive workforce development and child care plans with the input of impacted workers and child care providers.

Antecedentes: CHIPS Act funding will deliver an estimated 190,000 construction and manufacturing jobs over the next decade. The Commerce Department expects these investments to support local communities including opening career pathways for women and diverse workers in construction and manufacturing.
