Take action to restore child care funding!
On the basis of unproven claims of “fraud,” the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has issued a “freeze” on child care funding for five states, including California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota and New York. This will have devastating implications for children, families, and child care providers and early educators — as well as our larger communities and economy. We know that without child care, no other work can happen. The ripple effects of these actions will be felt by every single one of us.
We need everyone in our movement to act now. Congress has the power to intervene, and public pressure matters.

Hello, my name is [Your Name], and I’m a constituent from [City/State]. I’m calling to urge [Member of Congress Name] to take immediate action to stop the freeze on federal child care funding and demand that HHS restore full funding without delay.
A freeze on child care funding is a freeze on families. Parents won’t be able to work, providers may be forced to close, and children will lose access to safe, stable care. The ripple effects will harm our entire community and our economy.
[Please include anything you can share about your own family’s experience with child care here.]
Please act now. Thank you.

Freezing child care funding is a direct attack on working families, children, and local economies. Billions of dollars that support child care providers and parents have been delayed based on vague and unsubstantiated allegations.
If accountability is needed, real investigations should happen – not blanket funding freezes across our states that force providers to close and parents out of work. A freeze on child care funding is a freeze on our families.
Even worse, these actions have fueled harassment of Somali and immigrant child care providers. Child care programs should be safe, trusted spaces – not targets of intimidation.
Congress must intervene immediately and restore full child care funding without delay.
