WASHINGTON, D.C. — Leading child care organizations representing thousands of families and child care providers across the country have released the following statement in opposition of Russ Vought as nominee to be the Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB):

Russ Vought is a noted far-right ideologue who is also the chief architect of Project 2025. Vought has repeatedly supported and encouraged the illegal use of the Impoundment Act. OMB’s recent unconstitutional attempt to freeze federal funds (resulting in chaos across the country, including for child care and Head Start providers) came directly from Vought’s Project 2025 playbook. We deeply oppose his nomination and urge lawmakers to uphold their sworn oath to our kids, families, and communities by doing everything in their power to stop his nomination.

This statement has been endorsed by the following members of the Child Care for Every Family Network’s Coordinating Committee: Black ECE, Community Change, DC Action, Family Forward Oregon, MomsRising, National Women’s Law Center (NWLC), Parent Voices California, The Center for Law and Social Policy (CLASP); and the Child Care for Every Family Network Parent and Provider Constituency Group Leads.
