The House Republican majority voted to pass the “Stop Child Care Scams Act of 2026,” a package of bills that would deny support to children and families while doing absolutely nothing to strengthen our child care system or help the millions of families that are struggling to find and afford the child care they need.
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, the Child Care for Every Family Network issued the following statement on the House Republican majority voting to pass the “Stop Child Care Scams Act of 2026,” a package of bills that would deny support to children and families while doing absolutely nothing to strengthen our child care system or help the millions of families that are struggling to find and afford the child care they need.
Anali Alegria, Director of Federal Advocacy, the Child Care for Every Family Network, said:
“It’s bad enough that this bill does nothing to address the real child care crisis, but in the name of addressing a fake ‘fraud’ crisis, these members of Congress have voted to make child care more expensive and more difficult to access. If it becomes law, this bill will make it even harder for child care providers to keep their doors open and for families to find the child care they need.
Any member of Congress who voted for this bill has once again been duped by the Trump administration’s lies.”
