WASHINGTON, D.C. — Leading child care organizations representing thousands of families and child care providers across the country have released the following statement in opposition of President Trump’s nominee for Secretary of Education, Linda McMahon:

Linda McMahon has a deeply concerning lack of education experience, has shown an alarming disregard for the safety and wellbeing of children, and is absolutely not fit to serve as Secretary of Education.

President Trump’s marching orders for McMahon to ‘put yourself out of a job’ represents an all-out attack on kids, families, and communities. The Trump-McMahon education agenda would devastate public education funding, undermine students’ civil rights, and threaten educators’ jobs and livelihoods.

Linda McMahon cannot be trusted with our kids’ futures, plain and simple, and we urge our elected officials to reject her nomination.

This statement has been endorsed by the following members of the Child Care for Every Family Network’s Coordinating Committee: Black ECE, Community Change, DC Action, Family Forward Oregon, MomsRising, National Women’s Law Center (NWLC), Parent Voices California, The Center for Law and Social Policy (CLASP); and the Child Care for Every Family Network Parent and Provider Constituency Groups.
