Child Care for Every Family Network Urges Members of Congress to Reject Trump’s Anti-Family, Anti-Children Budget

“The President’s budget is anti-family and anti-children, plain and simple.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, the Child Care for Every Family Network is calling on Members of Congress to reject Trump’s proposed budget for fiscal year 2026, which makes massive cuts to the Departments of Education and Health and Human Services, and completely eliminates Preschool Development Grants (which the White House is now calling a “woke program”) and the CCAMPIS program, which provides campus-based child care services.

Andrea Paluso and Erica Gallegos, Co-Executive Directors of the Child Care for Every Family Network, released the following statement:

“The President’s budget is anti-family and anti-children, plain and simple. This proposal would slash funding from the Departments of Education and Health and Human Services, including by eliminating federal funds for preschool programs and child care for student parents.

“Parents, families and providers will not stop fighting back against this cruel agenda, and Congress should follow their lead. We need increased and permanent funding for child care—not slashed funding for programs families are counting on. We urge Members of Congress to resoundingly reject this callous budget and invest in our nation’s kids and child care providers.”

President Trump’s budget proposal follows mass firings at the Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Child Care and Head Start, including completely shuttering five of the twelve regional Head Start offices, which helped 22 states, 6 territories, and 467 Tribal governments implement their Head Start programs. Child Care for Every Family Network partners joined an ACLU lawsuit suing the Trump administration for these attacks on Head Start.
