WELCOME TO THE STATE CAMPAIGN COHORT PORTAL

Our Campaign Cohort will support existing state leaders in implementing coordinated, state-to-national, transformational child care campaigns that are rooted in racial and gender justice. Each cohort will include between five and seven states, and will be grouped together based upon their aligned readiness. The Campaign Cohort will be a multi-year program, with new groups of states entering each year.

WHAT PARTICIPANTS RECEIVE

Every state campaign participating will receive:

$100,000 up front, and a commitment to ongoing support with fundraising
In-person facilitation, as requested, to prepare a shared campaign plan
Multi-state campaign planning retreat (2-3 days) in early 2024
Ongoing technical assistance, as requested

KEY INDICATORS FOR READINESS

Our project team, which included The Child Care for Every Family Network, Community Change, Ohio Organizing Collaborative, and ISAIAH Minnesota, have identified the following indicators for readiness to participate:

Existing Campaign Leadership

There is an existing child care campaign leadership team made up of multiple state partners with a majority leadership from partners who have organizing capacity; and an overall focus by the table on the importance of organize and power-building with families and providers

Transformational Vision for Child Care

The leadership team has adopted a shared transformational vision for child care, and has agreed to general policy principles and operating agreements

Values-Aligned

The state leadership team and the Network are aligned on our visions for a transformed, national-to-state system that results in universal access to equitable, accessible, high-quality, affordable, and culturally-relevant child care across the U.S. with a diverse, well-paid, and well-supported workforce

Campaign-Ready

The state table is ready to develop a multi-year strategic campaign with a set of short- and long-term goals that are building toward their ultimate vision for child care

C4-Friendly

The table can hold some c4 capacity and activities

Interest in Collaboration

State partners have expressed interest in participating in a multi-year state cohort

PARTICIPANT REQUIREMENTS

All Campaign Cohort participants must agree to the following:

Leadership Structure

Agreed upon leadership structure that includes a focus on organizing and power-building in diverse communities of families and providers

Buy-In

Buy-in to needing/wanting a multi-year campaign plan and to participating in shared learning with other state teams. Buy-in throughout the organization’s involved in participation in shared learning models (in policy, organizing, communications and more).

Shared Vision

Shared vision on and participation in shaping a state-to-national plan

Campaign Plan

Draft of a campaign plan ready by in-person retreat in early 2024

Committment

Commitment to a shared racial and gender justice framework and regular communication between state leads and Network staff

Participation

Participation in some federal campaign strategy development, willingness to include federal power-building in your work

PROJECT DESIGN TEAM & PROCESS

The Child Care for Every Family Network, Community Change, Ohio Organizing Collaborative, and ISAIAH Minnesota collaborated on the design of this cohort together.

Staff from all organizations met together over the course of a year to create a campaign cohort that centers race, gender, and economic justice.
