Child care leaders and advocates call on Congress to stop the nomination of Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.

Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. is wholly unfit to make decisions that will impact the health and well-being of every child, family, and community across the country.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Leading child care organizations representing thousands of families and child care providers across the country have released the following statement in opposition of Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. as nominee to be Secretary of Health & Human Services (HHS):

Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. is wholly unfit to make decisions that will impact the health and well-being of every child, family, and community across the country. Another mega-rich friend of President Trump, RFK Jr. does not have a single qualification for this job. He has spent years peddling conspiracies and funding organizations that have threatened public health—in particular, the health of young children.

We watched as he struggled to answer basic questions about Medicaid, which millions of families, kids, and child care providers depend on. Furthermore, RFK Jr. did not disavow the Trump Administration’s attempt to freeze funding or their agenda to cut essential programs like Medicaid to fund tax cuts for billionaires.

A proven fraudster, he cannot be trusted with any job, and especially one this important. We call on Congress to uphold their sworn oath to protect our kids and families and stop this nomination.

This statement has been endorsed by the following members of the Child Care for Every Family Network’s Coordinating Committee: Black ECE, Community Change, DC Action, Family Forward Oregon, MomsRising, National Women’s Law Center (NWLC), Parent Voices California, The Center for Law and Social Policy (CLASP); and the Child Care for Every Family Network Parent and Provider Constituency Group Leads.
