{"id":2011,"date":"2025-07-17T16:13:47","date_gmt":"2025-07-17T20:13:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/childcareforeveryfamily.org\/?post_type=press_releases&#038;p=2011"},"modified":"2025-07-17T16:13:47","modified_gmt":"2025-07-17T20:13:47","slug":"child-care-for-every-family-network-endorses-child-care-for-working-families-act","status":"publish","type":"press_releases","link":"https:\/\/childcareforeveryfamily.org\/es\/press-release\/child-care-for-every-family-network-endorses-child-care-for-working-families-act\/","title":{"rendered":"Child Care for Every Family Network Endorses Child Care for Working Families Act"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>WASHINGTON, D.C. \u2014 The Child Care for Every Family Network endorsed Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) and Representative Bobby Scott (D-VA)\u2019s&nbsp;<em>Child Care for Working Families Act<\/em>, which ensures that families can afford high-quality child care and that child care workers are paid a living wage.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Andrea Paluso and Erica Gallegos, Co-Executive Directors of the Child Care for Every Family Network, released the following statement:<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cOur country is deep in a child care crisis\u2014one created and sustained by decades of underinvestment, racial and gender inequity, and policy choices that put corporate profits over community care. Families are being pushed to the brink trying to find and afford care, while the majority-women workforce\u2014disproportionately Black, brown, immigrant, and low-income women\u2014continues to be underpaid and undervalued. This system wasn\u2019t designed to work and we\u2019re seeing that play out in real time.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cThe Child Care for Working Families Act would create a powerful course correction, treating child care as the essential public good it is, not a luxury for the few. While Republican Members of Congress advanced their Big Ugly Bill that sidelines working families and guts the programs our communities rely on, we applaud Senator Murray and Representative Scott for showing the leadership this moment demands. Their bill would provide a step toward a future where more of our families can thrive and where child care providers are better respected, protected, and paid.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The introduction of the\u00a0<em>Child Care for Working Families Act<\/em>\u00a0comes immediately after Republicans in Congress passed their\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/childcareforeveryfamily.org\/es\/press-release\/senate-republicans-betray-kids-and-families-do-nothing-to-address-child-care-crisis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Big Ugly Bill<\/a>, which did nothing to address the child care crisis and instead will make it harder for families to raise their children as it makes major cuts to health care and food assistance programs. Many families of color, immigrant families, and low-income families who struggle to afford child care are the same families being targeted by Republicans\u2019 Big Ugly Bill. Additionally, nearly\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ccf.georgetown.edu\/2025\/04\/21\/medicaid-is-a-critical-support-for-the-early-childhood-education-workforce\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">28 percent of child care workers<\/a>\u00a0are covered by Medicaid, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cscce.berkeley.edu\/workforce-index-2024\/the-early-childhood-educator-workforce\/early-educator-pay-economic-insecurity-across-the-states\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">43 percent of early educator families<\/a>\u00a0rely on one or more public safety nets such as Medicaid or SNAP to make ends meet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">###<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The introduction of the Child Care for Working Families Act comes immediately after Republicans in Congress passed their Big Ugly Bill, which did nothing to address the child care crisis and instead will make it harder for families to raise their children as it makes major cuts to health care and food assistance programs.<\/p>","protected":false},"featured_media":0,"template":"","acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/childcareforeveryfamily.org\/es\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/press_releases\/2011"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/childcareforeveryfamily.org\/es\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/press_releases"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/childcareforeveryfamily.org\/es\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/press_releases"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/childcareforeveryfamily.org\/es\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=2011"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
