WASHINGTON, D.C. \u2014 Today, the Child Care for Every Family Network slammed House Republicans for their anti-family reconciliation bill that would rip health care and food assistance away from millions of American families to pay for even more tax cuts to corporations and billionaires, and to continue the Trump Administration\u2019s cruel mass deportation effort. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRepublicans in Congress are jamming through a bill that will make the rich richer and make it harder for working families to raise their children. They want to kick millions of people off Medicaid\u2013which a quarter of child care providers rely on for their health insurance\u2013and cut SNAP so that more children go hungry. They\u2019re also trying to increase the cruel family detention policies of the first Trump administration and fund more deportations of immigrant parents. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cRepublicans could invest in child care, paid leave, public education, and other policies that would actually help families, but instead they are spending all their efforts to pad the pockets of the ultra-wealthy. Don\u2019t be fooled by the talking points, Republicans are desperately trying to save face with their constituents after voting for this disastrous handout to billionaires and corporations. This bill is anti-family and any Member of Congress who says otherwise isn\u2019t being truthful.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Today, the Republicans on the House Energy and Commerce, Ways and Means, and Agriculture Committees jammed through pieces of the reconciliation bill that will cut Medicaid for millions of Americans, make it harder for families to access health care through the Affordable Care Act, and cut the food assistance program SNAP for millions. Last month, the House Judiciary Committee passed its reconciliation bill, which increases the cruel practice of family detention and allows the federal government to deport more immigrants without due process.
